Refugee Resettlement & Support

The Refugee Resettlement &Support program provides both financial and volunteer accompaniment support for immigrant and refugee individuals and families attending or affiliated with Central Lutheran.

Members of Central contribute to the Refugee Resettlement fund and support individuals and families by welcoming & visiting with them, helping with basic housing issues, medical appointments, and emergency needs.

Through the years, it has been our honor to work with, provide emotional, spiritual and financial help to families and their members. We have helped members maneuver through the intricacies of seeking and being granted legal immigration and political asylum status. We have also worked to bring members of the families to the United States to be joined together once again. Once here, we have helped them work with social service agencies, find housing, schooling and employment and helped them settle into a new life within the Central and Portland community.
