national organization of Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America,
and is made up of 118 ELCA congregations in Oregon. The Oregon
Synod is a community of faith, hope, and love that proclaims

Oregon (EMO) is an association of 17 Christian
denominations including Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox bodies
across the
state that work together for unity and justice. |

religious communities throughout the state in direct service
and in developing solutions to

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America resulted from
a union of three North
American Lutheran church bodies: The American Lutheran Church,
the
Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches and the Lutheran
Church in
America. The three churches agreed to unite in 1982 and came
into being on
January 1, 1988. The bishop of the ELCA is the Rev. Mark S.

of Christ in the
USA has been the leading force for ecumenical cooperation among
Christians in
the United States. The NCC's member faith groups - from a wide
spectrum of
