Baptism and Communion

BAPTISM AT CENTRAL

Central’s practice is to offer Holy Baptism only on special dates several times a year during Sunday worship. In 2009, those are:

  • January 11 (Baptism of Jesus)
  • April 12 (Easter Day)
  • July 5
  • September 13
  • November 1 (All Saints)

Holy Baptism is a sacrament. That means we believe God uses Baptism to make a direct spiritual connection with each person who gets baptized.

We take Baptism seriously. Pastor Brandt will gladly talk with you about preparation for Holy Baptism.

It is our expectation that every family who seeks Baptism for one of its members will participate often in Sunday worship at Central. Baptism is good, but it bears sweetest fruit when fertilized by frequent and consistent participation in the worship life of a Christian community. If you seek Baptism for yourself or your child, please consider how you will fulfill the expectation of regular participation at Central.

HOLY COMMUNION AT CENTRAL

The communion ritual is part of Sunday worship every week at Central. Communion is open to everyone, including little kids. Children may take communion as soon as parents think their kids are ready. You get a bit of bread to dip in a cup of wine or grape juice. You or your kids can receive a blessing instead of taking communion if you wish.

Holy Communion is a sacrament. That means we believe God uses the bread and wine to make a direct spiritual connection with people. We say Jesus is truly present in the eating and drinking simply because God has promised to be there – and we believe in God’s promises.

At your request, Pastor Brandt will gladly provide instruction about Holy Communion for children or adults.
