Central's Vision & Mission

Central Lutheran Church is progressive, yet deeply rooted in the worship traditions of the Christian faith. We honor our heritage by expressing it in creative ways to meet 21st century challenges. We care deeply about the world around us. We feel called to save the world from forces that make it hard to live with hope and dignity. So we live and teach an enduring faith in God, preparing disciples of Jesus Christ to serve God's purposes in the world.

Here are some ways we embody our vision in mission:

We are a "Reconciling in Christ" congregation that welcomes all, including GLBT persons, to Christ's table and to serve in this church.
We celebrate God's love through diverse, inclusive music and language.
We offer "Christianity 101," teaching basic beliefs and practices of Christian faith for adults.
We offer Christian education for all ages.
We work at building spiritual community.
We live out Christ's call to work for peace and justice with the help of Central's Social Ministry team.
We welcome children into our worship life in several ways, and include them in selected worship leadership roles.

Trusting in God's promises of blessing and hope, we take risks to share our gifts; we respond to joys, fears, and hurts; and we reach out to bring others into this spiritual community.

We join hands with our sisters and brothers regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, personal abilities, national origin, or economic status. We celebrate both the diversity of God's family and our unity with the whole people of God across the world.
