Worship
and Music
There¡¯s nothing remarkable about the community at Central Lutheran
on Sunday mornings. Chances are they look a lot like you. They
share your struggles. They have joy and pain, hope and longing,
deep wounds and great gifts.
Like you, the Central community is called by God
to gather, to come out of the world¡¯s isolation and bring their
whole selves warts and all into the presence of God and one
another. They sing and pray, they read scripture and proclaim
the good news, they share stories and silence, listening together
for God¡¯s word. They come to a common table, sharing a meal of
bread and wine that is an hors d¡¯oeuvre for the future feast
where everyone is welcome and everyone has enough. Then, with
lives turned upside down and inside out, God sends them back
into the world to teach, heal, love, challenge, and renew the
world.
Worship at Central is neither traditional (1950¡¯s style) nor
contemporary (1980¡¯s style), but rather is post-traditional.
We draw on the most ancient roots of Christian tradition and
place them in the context of a global, multi-traditional, post-modern
community. Chances are you¡¯ll experience something familiar and
something new (or re-newed) every Sunday.
This is the weekly miracle of worship. No fireworks, no razzle-dazzle,
just ordinary people following Jesus on a discipleship journey.
And you have a place here! You have a seat at the table a word
to speak, a mission to share. You have gifts and skills to enlivn
and renew worship.
