What can I expect of Sunday worship at Central Lutheran?
Grace. Welcome. Invitation. Music. Communion. Prayer. Action.
We begin our worship gathering together in the Sanctuary. You can wear what you are comfortable wearing. (On an average Sunday you'll find someone in shorts and someone in a suit - wear what brings you comfort. Come as you are, who you are. You are welcome.)
We use a bulletin to guide us through worship, which will be found right outside the glass doors to the Sanctuary. We do use hymnals because we like to save paper and we like to sing in harmony when we can. We promise to guide you through finding your place if you haven't used a hymnal before. And - if you get lost along the way? Don't worry about it. This is a place of grace, let the congregation carry you.
Each week we offer a children's sermon for all who wish to come forward. This is a time for the children of the congregation to know that they are a part of our service.
We follow the Revised Common Lectionary, which provides our readings from the Bible each week.
All are welcome to receive communion at Central Lutheran. We do our best to offer inclusive options. We have gluten free and celiac safe options. We offer wine and grape juice. We serve the meal every week at the floor level for all who wish to come forward. Children commune at the discretion of their parents/guardians.
On the first Sunday of the month we also welcome those who wish to come forward to the chancel to kneel or stand at rails.
On the second Sunday of the month we offer healing prayer and anointing during this time.
Each week we are sent out into the world to live out our faith. Our announcements remind us of opportunities to serve. You are as welcome to join us in action as you are welcome to join us in worship.
Central also has a tradition of welcoming the children of the congregation to come forward to play percussion during the closing hymn. There are shakers for even the smallest hands!
